yeah i think learning Japanese is very tough for foreigners.
learner have to memorize many different Japanese characters Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji.
why in ur primary school has Japanese class? when i was in elementary school there's not even English class haha.

now im studying English Chinese and Korean.
a few years ago i learned French in university but ive forgotten almost all of that lol. it was quite difficult language for me...
