I definitely need to expand my book collection, I've been such a Card fan girl for so long that I'm skeptical of new reads, haha. The latest book I read was Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, I believe, and that was great. There was enough of all the elements of a good story that it was easy to engrossed in, despite the fact that I am definitely not a gamer and definitely not a teenage boy, haha.

Political? I suppose so. It didn't bother me so much though.
Any recommendations of other books I should check out?

Ender's life story in his series is good, but at times it seems he is just too perfect, he always has the magic touch in every situation. But the world Card creates in Ender's universe is AMAZING. I don't want to give any spoilers, but there are some moments where the complexity and attention to detail just blows me away.

The two things I loved most about the books is that at some points he puts you in the shoes of the "alternate" realities, so that you can feel their sorrow and experiences and understand what it means when different versions die. The other thing is that Rigg gets a face mask, to me it resembles what he did when he killed off a main character in Empire. You never expect drastic changes to happen to the hero, but Rigg changes and Card takes you through that whole process. I'm SO glad he gave our perfect "hero" something so life altering. It was perfect.

Have you read the whole Ender's Game series? I love Ender as a character, but he often isn't a real person, whicch makes sense as he was bred to be a weapon against the Formics. But Bean's genius mind didn't happen through benevolent circumstances, he was just a normal boy who was designed to be intelligent. I could feel his sorrow in the steeets of Rotterdam, feel his love for his family, understand his strengths and weaknesses. It's so good.

Ender's Shadow is amazing too! I'm rereading shadow puppets right now, actually! Oh my goodness I love the Pathfinder trilogy. It's so well written and I was just blown away with how intricate everything was. My only complaint was the excess bickering in the second book, it went on and on, I lost a little connection with the characters. Other than that, fantastic trilogy.
